Ahmad Al Yaseer

Ahmad Alyaseer is a Jordanian film director, producer, and writer based in Amman. He is known for his bold storytelling that often engages with social issues and identity.

One of his notable works is the 2023 short film Our Males and Females, which he co-wrote with his sister Rana Alyaseer. The film has been screened at many international festivals and won the Best Narrative Short award at the Nashville Film Festival, earning it eligibility for the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film.

Earlier, he directed When Time Becomes a Woman (2012), a sci-fi feature that was part of his academic work and screened at festivals. He has also worked in television, producing and directing regional series like Ahlan Simsim, the Arabic adaptation of Sesame Street, which earned critical recognition.

In addition to film and TV, Ahmad has published novels (often with his sister Rana), including My Trip to Adele, Lasto Qedesa

(“I’m Not a Saint”), and Between Wuhan and Finland, a Cold Sun.
